Vascular testing is an important part of determining vascular health and diagnosing any vascular conditions that can lead to more serious medical conditions. Shore Vascular & Vein Center in Somers Point, New Jersey, is home to a noninvasive vascular lab accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. Only 13% of vascular testing facilities nationwide have achieved this accreditation, making Shore Vascular & Vein Center one of the highest-quality facilities for fast and accurate diagnostic information in the United States. If you need vascular testing, call Jeffrey Gosin, MD, FACS, to schedule your consultation or book online.
Shore Vascular & Vein Center’s noninvasive lab allows Dr. Gosin and his team to perform tests to diagnose vascular health and detect any vascular diseases that you might be experiencing. As a noninvasive lab, none of these tests require blood work, needles, or other invasive measures.
Shore Vascular & Vein Center performs tests designed to identify the most common vascular conditions that can lead to blemishes, varicose or spider veins, and other more serious complications. The most commonly performed include:
Similar to a standard blood pressure measurement, the ankle-brachial index (ABI) allows Dr. Gosin to measure blood flow in your legs and arms. The test makes use of a blood pressure cuff to measure circulation between your ankles and arm, indicating overall leg circulation.
This ultrasound test allows Dr. Gosin to evaluate blood flow in your arteries and veins. An ultrasound test can identify blockages that can lead to serious complications such as abdominal pain, kidney blockage, aneurysmal disease, and stroke.
All tests performed at Shore Vascular & Vein Center’s noninvasive lab are simple tests that typically don’t require much of your time. During an ABI test for blood flow, your Shore Vascular & Vein Center provider only needs access to your arm and ankle to apply the pressure cuff. Loose fitting clothing is helpful for your comfort and to allow ease of access to the measurement site.
During a duplex ultrasound test, your provider will need to apply a clear gel to the treatment areas. This gel helps provide a clearer image for the ultrasound and will be removed following the test. Again, loose, comfortable clothing is helpful, as you might need to remove certain garments depending on the test area.
